Why Are Standards Important?
Ladies! Ladies! Ladies!
How many times have I seen so many of you us settling for less? Do you have any idea of what power we possess as beautiful, intelligent and intriguing creatures? Somewhere down the road our potential has diminished when it comes to relationships!
So many times we de-value ourselves by settling for less when we deserve better. Why is my first blog about this? I will tell you why! It disappoints me to see young ladies who are with guys "just because"! So what is just because? Just because is......just because I don't want to be lonely I will settle for less; just because he pays the bills (in some cases) I will settle for less; or just because he has good game I will settle for less!
I for one am not pointing fingers at anyone for I too at one time was in a relationship in which I found myself settling. I was giving so much of myself and not getting the same or more in return. Don't get me wrong, it started out great but eventually things turned for the worst. I was so much younger back then. When I look back over it only if I knew then what I know now things would have turned out different! But hey what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?
This is where one seemingly simple yet so meaningful word comes to play, and that word my dear friend is STANDARDS!
Webster tells us that the word standard means a level of quality, and achievement, that is considered acceptable and desirable, etc. However I would also like to add the synonym REQUIREMENT to that. With that being said what are your standards (requirements)?
Are you in a relationship that is living up to your standards of how you want to be treated? Or are you settling for less.......just because?
Any man who truly loves and values your worth will go above and beyond to make sure that your standards and some or met. What is and some? And some is that extra that you didn't expect. Don't you think that you deserve that? I know I do and you do too!
God has truly blessed me with a great husband who is way more than I ever expected who loves me for me and goes above and beyond for our family.
It troubles me when I see any female being treated less that the queen that she is. That is why I feel that this is a subject that is mandatory to be addressed.
Guys I am not badgering you in any way form or fashion but I would like for you to step up and be the man that God created you to be. Trust me this is a convo that is soon to follow. For now I just want the ladies to know that it is never to late to set standards (as well as goals) for yourselves, regardless of what you have been through.
God informs us in Romans 12:2 that you should not be conformed of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God what is good acceptable and perfect.
With that being said, "Until next time, God Bless!"

As a single black female I have often contemplated on lowering my standards because I was lonely. But then I thought about it and realize I have way to much to settle for less. Love this post!!! Preach.
ReplyDelete@Choc Chronicles Thanks! Remember that God put too much in us to be wasted on people who don't value our self-worth!
