Has an experience ever happened to you that has caused you to cringe when you see a certain object that reminds you of a situation or experience? As I present this question to you...it reflects back to me. What has me cringing every time I see a Cintas truck?  No, it's not the truck, I respect the fact that they provide a service that is needed. Is it the uniforms? No, I respect the fact that they provide uniforms period.

Again I ask myself why do I cringe when I see a Cintas truck or anything relating to them. You really want to know why? It's not the Cintas company per se, however, it is HOW their uniforms were used as punishment to a particular department.

Kimberly, did you say punishment? Yes, I did or shall I say that the uniforms were used to throw shade. Yeah, I said it...SHADE.

I am a person who cares about what I wear and I also take pride in what I wear. I have no problems wearing a uniform for a company at all but when you work in an administrative area and your uniform is meant for the car service department at Wal-Mart that became a problem for me.

The day that I put on that uniform I literally cried. I had never experienced the feeling that I felt at that moment when I looked in the mirror. The pants were literally men's pants. They were tight in the crotch area and the only thing the shirt was missing was a patch with my last name embroidered on it.

I know this may sound silly to some but it really did bother me and when I think about that moment to this day my eyes get moist. How was this horrific uniform an act of shade? Well, I'll tell you.

Our oh so lovely management (who happen to be men) picked out these uniforms for a department of mostly women. I am not in any way, form, shape, or fashion saying that men are incapable of picking out uniforms. However, in this case, our manager was an impeccable dresser. He could dress his butt off, I give him that. My problem is how can you dress so well and not want your department to look just as good. I mean you are their leader wouldn't you want them to look just as good as you or even better. (I'm just saying!)

I think that regardless of which department you are in the appropriate attire should be worn for that department. I mean you don't see nurses wearing police uniforms, right?

If I had a picture of the uniform I would definitely post it along with this blog but I would not dare want to be seen anywhere in that uniform unless I actually worked at Wal-Mart of Jiffy Lube lining cars up for oil changes.

So now you know why the Cintas truck makes me cringe. What's so crazy is my neighbor is now a sales representative for Cintas. ( Thankfully he doesn't drive the truck)  Maybe one day while casually conversating I will bring up my experience with the uniforms he is selling.

I just had to share this...maybe it will be an insight to someone who may be in the position of handling uniforms for their company. If so, please keep two things in mind:

 1) Make sure the uniform is appropriate for the type of services that you provide.

2.) Remember your department or company is a reflection of you. If you look good you should want your staff to look just as good.

In closing I do not have any vendetta against Cintas at all....my problem was how Cintas was used.

Until Next Time,

Officially Kimi💋💋💋
